At
BLURimini 2003 from 23rd May to 8th June you will enjoy
sailing and shows with the biggest names of the sailing
world back from the America’s Cup, the Oceanic
Multihulls of the Challenge Mondial Assistance and plenty
of free shows and concerts held on the wide square of
the Marina di Rimini. There is also a rich program of
regattas of any kind, organised by Rimini’s Nautical
Club.
The 5th edition of BLURimini will be hosted by “Marina
di Rimini”, the new seaport of Rimini inaugurated in
May 2002 and considered by the sea experts one of the most
beautiful and modern tourist port of the Mediterranean Sea.
From 23rd May to 8th June once more BLURimini will join sailing
and shows confirming itself as one of the biggest attraction
for sailing lovers.
The event presents even in 2003 a rich sport program: various
kind of Regattas, from the joungest children to the biggest
names of the America’s Cup participants, from sailing
courses and match-race school to sailing experiences with
the Champions. Beside this sailing show there will be free
concerts and music shows held on the wide panoramic square
of the Marina also offering a charming sea view. The fashionable
evenings with special guests and V.I.P., the traditional
large BLUvillage with its nautical exhibition market to look
around and do some shopping are also part of the attraction.
From 24th May to 8th June on the stage of the BLUVillage
will perform numerous artists. The great Italian singer Lucio
Dalla will be the special guest of the first evening (exactly
one year after his concert held on the occasion of the Marina
di Rimini grand-opening). Later on still plenty of live-music
with the San Remo - Grand Gala and the last selections for
the 2004 Festival, the Canadian “blues” singer
Rita Chiarelli, the Neapolitan ethnic group “I Tamburi
del Vesuvio”, the Roman “Io Vorrei La Pelle Nera”,
the comic show of the Romagna’s city councillor Palmiro
Cangini (alias Paolo Cevoli) and the amusing “Regatta’s
Trial” with guests such as Martina Colombari, Carlo
Frisi, the champions of the America’s Cup and a few
well-known sport journalist, and much much more…. The
evening shows will start at 9.30 pm.
The great news of the 2003 edition of BLURimini is the presence
of the magnificent maxi Oceanic Multihulls such as “Sergio
Tacchini” of Yvonne Fauconnier, thanks to the “Challenge
Mondial Assistance” regatta which departed from Cherbourg
in the North of France on 11th May and has its arrival point
at the Rimini’s Marina. The arrival of the Multihulls
around 20th May is one of the attractions of BLURimini 2003
opening and the presence of those huge Oceanic Multihulls
(up to 20mt. long and 17mt. wide) confirms the great efficiency
of the new Marina di Rimini.
As usual not to be missed are the spectacular Regattas of
the BLURimini World Match Race, ISAF grade 2, from 2nd to
8th of June. On board of the BLUSails ’24 you will
be able to see, just back from Auckland’s regattas,
some of the world famous participants in the America’s
Cup, such as Paolo Cian of “Mascalzone Latino”,
James Spithill and Kelvin Harrap of “One World Challenge”,
Andy Green of “GBR Challenge” and many other
match-race specialists.
To complete the sailing program there will be the University
Championship “Alma Mater Sailing Cup” from 22nd
to 25th May, the “Sailing Kermess” giving away
the “Coppa Italia Ims Minialtura” and presenting
over 150 sailing boats from 29th May to 1st June, the “Snipe” and “Lightning” class
regattas from 31st May to 1st June, the “Kite Surf” regattas,
the “Bavaria Cup”, the Journalist’s Regattas “Reporters
on Board”, the “Veleggiata” (a spectacular
collective regatta in which will compete all kinds and sizes
of sailing boats) and last by not least the absolute novelty
of the first swim across the high Adriatic Sea “From
Pola to Rimini”.
Inside the BLUVillage the will also be scenographical theatre
laboratory for childrens on the marine theme called “Spiritoso
Mare 03”.
BLURimini 2003 is organised by SGE Events in co-operation

Provincia di Rimini, City of Rimini Council, Chamber of Commerce
